Why Do Bags Stick, Miscount, Attract Dust, or Jam as Line Speed Increases?

A non-woven bag line may run well during a factory trial and become unstable in a dry workshop. Lightweight PP web rubs against unwind rollers, folding frames, guides, sealing stations, punches, and conveyors. The resulting electrostatic charge can pull dust onto the print surface, make layers cling together, confuse a photoelectric sensor, hold cutouts on the punch, or scatter finished bags before stacking. Operators often slow the machine, but this sacrifices output without removing the charge source. Humidification alone is also unreliable when charge is trapped between folded layers. The practical solution is a system: locate where voltage is generated, verify machine bonding, neutralize both web faces at critical stations, stabilize the environment, and confirm results at production speed. A Manufacturer or Supplier must design static control around the actual material path.

For high-speed PP non-woven bag production, use verified equipotential bonding plus correctly positioned active ionizing bars before folding, punching, sealing, and stacking. Zhengxin integrates these controls with web tension, sensors, and the discharge topology, then validates them with actual fabric at the target speed.

Retailers, importers, wholesalers, and distributors can use the following application plan to diagnose the charge source, select controls, and verify a Customizable line. The method follows the entire material path and uses measurable evidence under realistic dry-season, light-fabric, and high-speed production conditions.

Map Static by Station Before Installing Hardware

Begin with symptoms and measurements. Use a suitable non-contact electrostatic field meter at repeatable distance and locations. Record polarity, field strength, humidity, line speed, roll diameter, material GSM, and surface treatment. Measure safely without reaching into moving equipment. The objective is to find the first station where charge rises, not only the station where a jam becomes visible.

• Check the unwind and first guide after a fresh roll is loaded.
• Measure before and after folding because charge can become trapped inside the web.
• Inspect the printing exit, slitting or cutting area, handle punch, sealing wheel, and stacker.
• Compare cold start, normal speed, and the maximum agreed production speed.
• Repeat after cleaning rollers to separate contamination from electrical causes.

A Supplier should include measurement points on the machine layout. This creates a baseline for commissioning and later troubleshooting instead of relying on operator shocks as the only indication.

Build a Low-Impedance Bonding and Grounding Topology

Protective earthing and static dissipation are related but not identical tasks. The electrical installation must follow applicable machinery requirements, including IEC 60204-1, while conductive frames, guards, rollers, and auxiliary modules need reliable equipotential bonding. Paint, corrosion, contaminated bearings, flexible hoses, and recently added conveyors can interrupt the path.

Never substitute a loose wire or improvised chain for an engineered solution. OEM or ODM modifications should preserve the protective circuits, cable routing, and access safety of the original machine.

Place Ionizing Bars Where Charge Can Actually Be Reached

An ionizing bar must be selected for the working distance and web speed. Install it where airflow and geometry allow ions to reach the charged surface. If the web is folded first, a bar outside the fold may not neutralize the internal faces. Keep electrodes clean, maintain the specified distance, and interlock or monitor the system when the application requires it.

The final placement must respect guards and safe access. Zhengxin can reserve mounting, power, and cable paths in a Customizable machine topology rather than adding them after shipment.

Control Humidity, Cleanliness, and Material Storage Together

Low relative humidity often increases charging, but there is no universal humidity number for every PP web, ink, climate, and building. Establish a validated operating band with the material and ink Suppliers. Many converting operations begin their investigation around a moderate 40–60% RH range, then adjust for condensation, corrosion, mold, ink drying, and local conditions. Treat that range as a trial direction, not a guarantee.

• Log humidity at the machine, not only at a distant wall sensor.
• Allow cold or hot rolls to acclimatize before opening their packaging.
• Clean lint and cutting dust because charge attracts and redistributes particles.
• Prevent humidifier droplets from wetting the web, controls, sensors, or tooling.
• Coordinate humidity with water-based ink drying on connected printing lines.

A tropical plant may need dehumidification for storage while a conditioned production room needs local humidification. The correct solution follows the measured dew point and process behavior.

Stabilize Web Tension, Sensors, Punching, and Stacking

Static can amplify a mechanical problem. Before blaming charge, verify unwind tension, web guiding, roller cleanliness, photoelectric contrast, sensor grounding, punch clearance, conveyor timing, and stacker airflow. A wrinkled web changes sensor distance and contact area. A dirty lens produces intermittent counts that look like electrical interference.

1. Run the mechanical system at low speed with static readings recorded.
2. Correct tension and guiding until the web enters the fold and seal stations consistently.
3. Clean and teach the photoelectric sensor using the production print mark.
4. Enable neutralization and compare charge decay at the same speed.
5. Increase speed in defined steps while tracking miscounts, jams, and stack quality.

This sequence prevents a Supplier from using an ionizer to conceal alignment faults. It also identifies the real capacity limit for a specific fabric and bag geometry.

Validate Performance with a Dry-Condition Production Trial

Acceptance should use the lightest and most static-sensitive approved fabric, the intended bag style, and the agreed speed. Run long enough to include roll-diameter change and normal heat buildup. Record charge at mapped stations, reject rate, counting accuracy, dust defects, punch release, and stack alignment.

Define pass criteria in the FAT and repeat them during site commissioning. Seasonal monitoring points should remain accessible to the maintenance team.

Send Zhengxin your fabric GSM, bag style, line speed, workshop climate, and videos of the failure station. We can engineer a Customizable OEM or ODM static-control and web-handling solution and include it in your production trial.
